Hardcore Crews.. What's The Point?
I was at a club the other day with a few mates.. wearing the standard N.W.S. "emo cunt" t-shirt. And some guy say's "ahh, NWS! great band!" (not exactly unusual, 'happens whenever i wear that tee out to a club.)
but anyhow.. i smiled and started chatting to him.

next thing he says is "yea, you know Toby and Merv? [Two of the NWS guys] yeah. i'm like. really good friends with them." [I thought it best not to point out to the fucker that he was blatently just fishing for fuckin scene points.. so i kept chattin.]

He finds out that i play guitar but i'm not in a band atm, (oh my gosh, that's so unussual isn't it?.. how could i ever live if i wasnt in a hardcore band??..)
and he's absolutely convinced that i should start a band.. - though he's known me for all of a minute. - and go's on about how amazing it is that a guy he knows pays for bands to play at his venue.. i tell him that if i was in a band i wouldnt give a fuck if some guy payed me to play at his venue. And the kid fucking went psycho! i'm saying to him it's about the music, he replies with a "No. it's not about the music. it's about the bands!" Then he pushes me and starts saying how i'm such a dick and how i should never talk to him again.. (though it was him who started the conversation.)

At which point he drags his friend out of a conversation and poses the question: "what's it about? The Music, or the Band's??" his freind backs him up saying It's about the band's.

To me, this little experience blatently exposes the gulf between those who actually know what the music's about. And those kids who just say they do.. the one's who could never understand what this truly means.

Anyone who knows hardcore knows it's about the music, and that only band's who contribute musically are of any worth whatsoever. Hardcore is about the music not about how much money you make at a show or what crew you're in.
so many kids run around trying to make this into something it's not. It's never been about making money: to make money out of a band the music that they produce must be commercially viable.

Since it's inception the hardcore scene has always been about standing up for what you believe in.. It's always been against commercialism and/or capitalism.
It seems this scene has become too far removed from it's roots.

So where the fuck is the unity?
Nowadays it's all about your fucking crew and the kids you know.
Pricks like this guy are fucking parasites and it makes me fucking sick to see them attatch themselves to a band such as N.W.S.
NWS are the kind of band that would put a show on anywhere for petrol money.

I don't go to gigs to see kids getting pushed around cause theyre not in the "cool crew." I'll be looking for kids walkin round chilling out over a beer. Havin a chat, supporting eachother, sharing ideas and supporting the hardcore community as a whole. I dont wanna see kids turning up for one band then fucking off. Even if the support band's are mainly shit you can bet your ass i'll be there 4 times outta 5.

Fuck all your crews. Fuck all your "friends." You can keep the fucking lot.

All you're doing is destroying the one thing about this scene that makes it different to the rest of the bullshit music genres.
You're destroying our community.
